On Saturday, the Tacoma Rangers completed their 2019 Annual General Meeting and welcomed in a new Chairman, Cory Haven! The team would like to thank Brian Thompson for his incredible work as the Rangers Chairman for three years. Under Brian’s leadership the club lifted its first NW Division Tournament trophy as well as making its first two appearances at USGAA Nationals in 2016 and 2017 with the team competing in both Hurling and Gaelic Football, including two Championship Finals for Gaelic Football. Cory has some big shoes to fill, but we know he is up to the task to lead the Tacoma Rangers to even greater success! There were some other moves on the Rangers board on Saturday, with Mike Gould taking Cory’s place at Registrar, and Brian Thompson taking a different board position as Sponsorship Officer. The rest of the board remains the same from last year, with Hud Wilkins as Vice Chair, Rory O’Flaherty as Treasurer, Tom Lagan as Secretary, Brett Burden as Public Relations Officer, and Molly Shanks-Hughes as Member-at-Large/Special Projects/Camogie Director. Aside from the board elections, the club set goals for 2019 and is looking forward to competing at NW division tournaments throughout the summer and USGAA Nationals in Leesburg, VA at the end of August!
It wasn’t all administrative work on Saturday! The club played two pub league matches before the AGM, one Hurling and one Gaelic Football, pitting the Doyle’s Evergreens vs the Pacific Brewing Black Sheep. The matches ended up being very competitive, with the Doyle’s Evergreens winning Hurling 12-9 and the Pacific Brewing Black Sheep winning Gaelic Football 15-9! More pub league matches are coming up, so keep an eye on the website and Facebook for dates as we start to ramp up for the 2019 season.
A big thank you once again to our sponsors and we look forward to another great year of GAA in Tacoma!
